All songs are written, recorded, performed and produced by Jeff Mallon.

1. What is your favorite guitar?
I’ve owned a lot of electrics over the years, but I’ve finally found an electric that I love…it’s a Gibson SG Special Platinum. Plus, I love my Larrivee acoustic, I like it a lot more than any Martin or Taylor that I’ve owned or played.
2. How long have you been playing guitar?
non-stop for 25 yrs.
3. Did you ever “shred” on guitar?
I suppose you could call it that. Mainly I just did not want to be limited on the instrument. I really wanted to get a strong grasp on as many styles as I could. It was guitar in the past, but now it’s recording, vocals, lyrics and songwriting. I approach everything that I want to do in that way. I’ve always tried to treat the guitar like a musical instrument and not an Olympic event. If you let it, guitar can be purely physical and non-creative. A monkey could probably play chords, “finger tap”, etc. if you taught him the fingering to practice over and over. But, he could never write/create a song with it. It can be impressive on a purely physical and technical level, like a great athlete, but has very little to do with music. It can be done, but is very rarely used in conjunction with emotion and creativity. It’s mostly about pulling the trick off physically. It’s very easy to get caught up in the technical tricks of guitar and lose touch with creating music.
4. Do you play in a band?
I’ve played in a handful of original bands in the past including Anthrophobia. I currently do not have a live band for my music, but I’m always looking for the right musicians to play live shows as soon as possible. I’m thankful that I still have an outlet for my music via myspace, facebook, etc. Also, on the weekends I play solo acoustic cover songs. :)
5. Do your parents play any instruments?
Yes. My mom plays the piano and sang lead vocals in top 40 cover bands in the 70′s.
6. Have you ever taken music lessons?
Yes. I’ve studied guitar with Richie Kotzen and attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA.
7. Favorite Band?
Led Zeppelin
8. Where were you born?
Roosevelt Hospital, New York City
9.Top 3 favorite guitarists?
1. The Edge 2. Jimmy Page 3. Steve Howe
